Field Day Update/Reminders:
Published: Thu, May 17, 2012, 01:59PM CDT

Teachers and Parents,

Field Day is TOMORROW! (Friday 8:10am-12:00pm). Please remember the following:

  • Send a sack lunch with a drink (unless you previously ordered lunch through the cafeteria) or you can bring something to share with your child at the school picnic which begins at 12:00.
  • Be sure that adequate sunscreen has been applied before school.
  • Students may get wet so a towel and/or change of clothes may be necessary. Dry socks are a good idea, too.
  • It is a good idea to apply bug spray before school.

Dress—Students should wear:

  1. Comfortable t-shirt (Grade levels will wear similar colors although this is NOT required: K-blue, 1st grade-red, 2nd grade-blue, 3rd grade-green, 4th grade-yellow, 5th grade-red)
  2. Shorts
  3. Socks and athletic shoes (Students will need to wear shoes that are appropriate for running, but that might also get wet.)
  4. Students may get wet so a towel and/or change of clothes could be helpful!

Volunteers: Thanks to everyone in advance! Field Day could not take place without wonderful parents working stations. Please check in at the table in the lobby upon your arrival.

Parking: We will be using the parking lot next to the cafeteria. Please park in the front of the building.

Thanks again for all of your help in making Field Day a success!

Give your favorite graduate a gift card and support Wilson PTO!
Published: Sun, May 13, 2012, 08:05PM CDT

Summer is almost here and graduating seniors are getting ready to put on their caps and receive their diplomas. Give grads a gift that is better than cash or checks — give gift cards!

Gift cards work like cash, but they are better because they earn rebates that support the Wilson PTO. Every retailer gives a percentage of the gift card value to our school. With a variety of local and national retailers to choose from, you are sure to find the brands that your grads need for life’s next chapter.

For example:

  • Target – denominations of $25 or $100 earn the PTO 2%
  • The Container Store – denominations of $25 or $100 earn the PTO 9%
  • OfficeMax – denominations of $25 and $100 earn the PTO 5%

To download a copy of the order form, please click Scrips/Gift Card Order Form.

Don’t see your merchant listed on the order form? Click Scrip Participating Retailers to see if your favorite store participates. You can write in your merchant/denomination at the bottom of the order form.

We will place our LAST SCRIP gift card orders of the year on Tuesday, MAY 22nd and 29th. These orders will be delivered by Friday May 25th and Thursday May 31st, respectively.

Field Day & Family Picnic / THIS FRIDAY, May 18th
Published: Sun, May 13, 2012, 08:05PM CDT

Wilson Elementary FIELD DAY (8am-12) and Family Picnic (beginning at 12 noon) is scheduled for this Friday, May 18.

Our PTO sponsors FIELD DAY and many volunteers are needed to help make it a success. The more volunteers we have – the more games our kids get to play. Both moms and dads are needed to work events, set up and take down equipment, manage the water table and provide refreshments for the many volunteers and children. Please plan to stay after the Field Day activities to have a picnic lunch with your child beginning at 12:00 noon.

YOU MUST HAVE A COMPLETED AND APPROVED VOLUNTEER BACKGROUND CHECK ON FILE TO VOLUNTEER DURING FIELD DAY. The volunteer position will require your full attention. We encourage you to make child care arrangements for younger siblings.

Please use the links below to sign up for food and drink donation or to sign up to volunteer on the day of Field Day. If you have already sent in a field day sign-up paper of the request, you do not need to sign-up online.

Thank you so much for all of your help and support in volunteering to make Field Day a great event for our children. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact any of the members of the Field Day committee:

Published: Mon, Apr 30, 2012, 07:39AM CDT

We are jumping up and down with excitement for our 1st Annual Project ACES (All Children Exercise Simultaneously) this coming Friday, May 4 at 9 a.m. Each classroom will watch a video with a short motivational “minute” about the importance of exercise followed by a 15 – 20 minute exercise video to get them up and moving. Our goal is to have all CISD students exercising at the same time!

Project ACES is a nationwide effort to teach students that daily exercise is important to leading a healthy life.

We would love to have parent volunteers that morning to photograph and video tape our kids in action. If you’d like to be a part of this exercise in good health please contact Cindy Hendricks at wilsoncin@aol.com.

Please make plans to send or drop by the office this week to pay and retrieve the items you won.

There was one item (Dickey’s bbq coupons) that I could not match with a family. If you were bidder #432, please contact Kara Dunn to make arrangements to pickup your item. WilsonFest Still Needs 35+ Volunteers
Published: Wed, Apr 11, 2012, 02:34PM CDT

Wilson Parents:

Thank you to those of you who quickly signed up to help during WilsonFest.

We have an immediate need for 6-8 people during the school day on Friday from 9-11am to help set-up our games. This involves allocating candy and prizes between games, making sure each game has adequate supplies, and prepping game for use in the gym.

There are also shifts available for early morning and late afternoon on Friday. If you can come help, we need you. Please sign up below.

Also, we still have a significant number of positions that need to be filled during the carnival, especially for game monitors, the henna and arm cast stations, food court, and shifts later in the evening from 7-8:30. If you are able to stay and help the entire evening, that would be a huge help. I promise the time will fly by!

If you are able to help, please sign up NOW so we can reassess our unmet needs. If we do not get adequate help, we may need to potentially eliminate some games and activities that will be unmanned during the carnival.

It takes many hands on deck to make an event as large as this one to happen and we rely upon your participation to make it successful.

Thanks!
